A tributary of the Arroyo Trabuco, Tijeras Canyon Creek around Rancho Santa Margarita  flows through the northeastern part of the county of Orange in the state of California. As an underground culvert, it runs for several miles through Rancho Santa Margarita, a suburban city in southern California, beginning in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains and flowing southwestward. Below State Route 241, it becomes a free-flowing creek that travels through Caada Vista Park and the Tijeras Creek Golf Club until joining Trabuco Creek in O’Neill Regional Park, where it flows into the Colorado River.

The lower Tijeras Creek provides habitat for the endangered arroyo chub, which is found only in coastal Southern California streams and is threatened by habitat destruction. During field research conducted there in 2010, a large number of native fish were spotted.

More than 2,000,000 US gallons (7,600 m3) of raw sewage was released into Tijeras Creek when a force main close to the creek burst in March 2010. Because of the tainted water that went into Trabuco and San Juan Creeks before reaching the Pacific Ocean, Doheny State Beach was closed for six days.

Tijeras Creek is the best-kept secret in Orange County because of its Spanish design, charming fountain terrace, and sweeping panoramic views of the golf course and surrounding mountains. With our indoor/outdoor facilities, we can accommodate weddings for up to 250 guests, with a range of reception layouts that include both indoor and outdoor dance floors, access to the bar from the patio as well as from inside. Besides big sun shades and a built-in fire pit with seats, our patio is illuminated by Edison string lights, which provide an incredible mood.

In addition to a professional team specializing in tournament and group event organization, Tijeras Creek Golf Club offers a variety of options for small group events, corporate outings, and large field tournaments of any size. In addition to paying close attention to the details, we take great delight in aiding you at every level – from preliminary preparation through smooth coordination and execution on the day of the tournament.

The Tijeras Creek Golf Club & Troon Cardmember Scholarship is available at Tijeras Canyon Creek. It was established in 2008 to provide a chance for children of current Troon-affiliated cardmembers who have enrolled in the Creek Card Membership Program to apply for a scholarship to be used for college tuition. The scholarship is funded entirely by donations from the community. In order to encourage children of Troon-affiliated cardmembers to pursue further education ambitions, they must first demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in high school and/or college, as determined by the Troon Foundation.
